The rare book collection is a small group of art and design titles published before 1950 that are deemed of high monetary value and/or rare. The Library's acquisition of rare books, usually by gift, goes back to the beginning of the University and its library. Today, the collection includes over 125 printed volumes, all related to the Art, Architecture, and Design field. These diverse materials sustain the study of such varied topics as fine printing, interior architecture, painting, as well as American popular culture. Rare Books may be located using the Academy of Art Library online catalog and can only be used inside the library.
