Steven

for
decades. Mr.
Oliver
sees
the
ranch
as
a
role
model
for
philanthropy,
and
funding
the
arts
has
been
a
life-long
passion.
The
Oliver
Ranch
project
started
in
1985
when
Mr.
Oliver
commissioned
a
site-specific
work
by
the
New

Spring
Anderson
Art
Collection
Tour,
Menlo
Park,
April
12,
2001, 9:30 – 3:00
The
Anderson
Collection
is
one
of
the
outstanding
private
collections
of
twentieth
century
American
art
in
the
United
States.
More
than
two
thirds
of
the
collection,
which
includes
over
800
works,
is
on
view
at
the
Quadrus
office
complex
in
Menlo
Park.
Harry
W.
and
Mary
Margaret
Anderson
have
been
collecting
art
since
the
late
1960s. The
Anderson's
like
to
think
of
their
collection
as "a
collection
of
collections" in
that
it
includes
groups
of
artworks
representing
a
variety
of
time
periods
and
media. Aside
from
a
selection
of
works
by
twentieth
century
European
artists,
the
Anderson's
have
primarily
collected
twentieth
century
American
art
with
an
emphasis
on
works
created
after
World
War
II,
anchored
in
the
work
of
Abstract
Expressionists.
Additional
major
post-war
movements
represented
in
The
Anderson
Collection
are
Color
Field
Painting,
Post-Minimalism,
California
Funk
Art,
Bay
Area
Figurative
Art,
and
contemporary
abstract
painting. Other "collections"
include
a
group
of
works
by
early
twentieth
century
American
artists
(the
circle
of
Alfred
Stieglitz)
and
a
survey
of
American
and
European
sculpture.
