Online MFAs

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010

FYI,

I just discovered that the Online Graduate Student Showcase (the website where students can see MFAs from various departments) has been updated.

There are now Illustration, Animation & Visual Effects, and Interior Architecture & Design MFAs available.

Currently the only departments that aren’t covered are Game Design, Multimedia Communications, and Music for Visual Media, but I don’t believe any of those departments actually have completed MFAs at this point.

If you have online students asking about MFAs, be sure to let them know about this page:

This page is linked to from the library’s MFA page (http://elmo.academyart.edu/find-resources/mfa.html)

Digital Tutors

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

Hi Everyone,

We now have access to Digital Tutors.  I just added a link to the Online Articles & Reference page this morning, and I am in the process of adding it to various subject guides.  I’m also in the process of writing a blog post about this new resource.

You may start to get questions about this resource.  If you haven’t taken a look sign up for an account and look around.

The link to sign up for a new account or to sign in if you already have an account is here:

http://elmo.academyart.edu/find-resources/online_articles.html#software

You must sign up with an Academy of Art University Email Address (this is @academyart.edu for faculty and staff and @art.edu for students).  If students don’t know, they can access their academy email account through the My Academy website (http://my.academyart.edu/) and then clicking the link along the right side (”Student Email Login”).

If a student asks to sign up with a different email account (their personal gmail or yahoo account for example) you can have them email me or library@academyart.edu we can get them signed up w/ a different email address - they must provide their name and student id to do this.

Let me know if you have any questions.
