Being that we have a lot of students in the library using our printing system, we are also seeing an uptick in printing issues! Here is a quick list of issues you might encounter and solutions:
A)color printer isn’t printing jobs students send it.
-First check to make sure the student hasn’t accidentally sen the job to the B&W printer, or they didn’t click the “release print job” button. If there is just one student complaining of this issue, this is often the problem. The majority of the time printing issues can be resolved by trouble shooting so called “operator errors”.
-Make sure the student didn’t sent a 11 by 17 job. You can tell this is the case if the “Fiery driven” button on the color copier is lit up with a red light. Push this button and follow the screen prompts to print the job on 8 1/2 by 11 paper. We don’t usually give refunds for this mistake to students.
- HOWEVER, if this doesn’t solve the problem, you’ll need to restarted the servers. The wiki gives the best instructions:
Please read this over and be familiar with it, but know there is printed instructions in the purple folder at the circ desk. Also, please keep in mind that when the server is restarted, the PrintITC software must be restarted on all of the student computers! Ask for help if and when this happens.
