Upcoming LUNA Migration and Data Freeze

Monday, December 12th, 2011

Hi everyone,

We will be migrating the LUNA database to a new server in early January. The process requires a data freeze, which means users will not be able to create new or change existing content in their LUNA accounts. Holly just posted an announcement on the Library website’s home page with a link to full details on the Digital Images page. Please take a moment to review the full details here.

If you have any questions about this project, please let me know. Please also feel free to direct any confused or concerned patrons my way.

Thank you,

Fashion Design History Collection Database

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

In case any patrons inquire regarding the whereabouts of this database: The Fashion Design History Collection has been one of our recommended digital image resources for a few years now. However, the institution that created it, Parsons’ New School, has taken it down and it is not likely to return anytime soon according to the very nice staff member there who responded to my email.

Holly is in the process of removing all references/links to it on our website, but if you happen to see any later on please let her know.

Please let me know if you have any questions, thank you.

No Reservations for the library’s media cart

Wednesday, December 7th, 2011

Per my email:

We are having some issues with instructors wanting to use the library media cart at the same time and deciding who gets priority. They have been asking about reservations and we need to make a policy so here it is:

The library media cart can only be used in the library classrooms, 620 and 621, by instructors teaching at that time. In other words no pre reservations allowed.

If an instructor knows that they need to use a media cart for their classroom ahead of time they need to make a reservation through the Audio Visual department, A/V department, which is located in the basement of this building. The email for Audio Visual is and the phone number is 618-3828. Chris and Sean are both very friendly and helpful and would be happy to assist instructors who need AV equipment. You can call or email them on an instructor’s behalf if an instructor is in the building and doesn’t have access to email or a phone.

If you have any questions please ask!

Clearing/Setting initals in Millennium

Wednesday, December 7th, 2011

Hello lovely circ workers –I’d like to ask you to make sure you are signed in under your initials when using Millennium.  This means that when you come back to the desk after being away, or when you are starting a shift or covering someone’s lunch you need to clear and reset your password.

To do this, simply go up to “Admin” at the top of the screen, and click on “Clear Initials”.  You will find “Set initials” in the same place.

This is important because Millennium keeps track of who is overriding, waiving, etc by initials.  Don’t be blamed for something you didn’t do! Make sure you clear and set your initials!

Feel free to ask questions if you have any!
