Student Artists and Contracts

Monday, July 29th, 2013

Hi all,

Just a heads up: I have been meeting with the students that have been invited to display their artwork in Fall 2013 (we have four this time!), and I expect them to return to the library with a signed contract in hand this week or the next. I asked them all to contact me first so I can plan on being here, but just in case I have also told them that they may leave their contract with someone at the Circulation Desk to pass along to me. So! If that person ends up being you, please just leave the contract on my desk whenever you have a moment.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Library Classroom 621

Tuesday, July 16th, 2013

Hi all,

In order to clear up confusion surrounding Library Classroom 621 (and give library tours the priority to its use), the following policy has been created:

The Library Classroom has regularly scheduled classes and events. If patrons wish to use this room, they must make an appointment by speaking with a library staff member. Please note: reservations may only be made day-of; no future dates can be booked. Patrons may only book the classroom if the Group Study Room is unavailable. The reservation may not exceed 2 hours. We do not allow recurring classes or study groups to use the classroom as a regular meeting spot.

This has also been added to the wiki for reference.

I know I sound like a broken record here. But it’s worth repeating… When you change an item’s status to missing, put an “m” note in the item’s record that has pertinent details and your initials! For instance, “Marked missing after searching twice. HS 7/11/13″ or “Student workers cannot find book. Missing 7/11/13 HS” or something equally informative. That way, when Joel or I or anyone else takes a look at a book that’s marked missing, we know the backstory. If we don’t have that, it’s all a big mystery. And we don’t like mysteries (unless they feature cat detectives, in which case we’re totally on board).

If you have questions or need a refresher on how to add messages to records, let me know. Thanks!
