The Academy of Art Library is located on the 6th floor of 180 New Montgomery. We have a well-curated collection that supports the diverse needs of the Academy of Art University's art and design programs.
Our collection includes over 40,000 print and electronic volumes. We have more than 200 current subscriptions in our periodical collection and an extensive collection of back issues that are of significant research value. Take a look at our Collections page for a description of our special collections.
Students can use our website to access online resources including full-text articles, e-books, software tutorials, and digital images, as well as the online catalog, subject guides created by our librarians, and many other instructional guides and tutorials.
The Academy of Art Library has a long history of being a "no-shush" zone. Our student artists are encouraged to work together in a vibrant atmosphere where they can conduct visual research, collaborate, learn, and create. We have group and quiet study areas, a 15-seat theater, an 8-seat group study room, and several visual resource areas where students can practice hands-on techniques learned in the classroom.
