Library Tours & Tutorials
We offer tours of the library and instruction on finding and using library resources to individuals and classes. We now have a web-based tour of the library on our website! Students and faculty can also watch a web-based tutorial about the Proquest database to learn how to find online magazine articles. The online tour materials make it easy for students to learn about library resources anytime, anywhere! More web-based tutorials will be offered on the library website soon.
Faculty members can request an on-site library tour for their class using the Tour Request Form. Library tour requests must be submitted at least one week in advance.
Subject Guides
The subject guides are web-based, subject-specific guides created by Academy of Art University Librarians to help students find some of the most valuable resources offered at the library. There is a different subject guide corresponding to each major offered at the University. The guides contain lists of and/or links to the following resources: library books, Library of Congress call number classifications, magazines offered in the library, magazines with online access, article and reference databases, printed image resources in the library, online image collections, videos in the library, Academy of Art MFA thesis projects, website resources, professional organizations, special library collections and equipment/tools.
Glossary of Library Terms
This glossary provides a list of basic library-related terminology with brief definitions. Some definitions relate directly to specific resources offered by the Academy of Art University Library.
MLA Citation Guide
MLA (Modern Language Association) is the citation style used at the Academy of Art University and is commonly used in the liberal arts and humanities fields. This guide gives citation formats and examples for various material types.
